123 CERMAK HOTELS

McCormick Place is the largest convention center in North America. It was proposed by Robert R. McCormick in 1927 and completed in 1960. The convention center has hosted the Chicago Auto Show, the International Home and Housewares Show, and the National Restaurant Association.

Besides the convention center, McCormick place is home to several hotels which hosts thousands of convention attendees. With the history and significance of McCormick place, UJAMAA Construction (“UJAMAA”) entered a joint venture with McHugh Construction for the construction and build -out of the 22-story Hilton tri-branded hotel that will also serve convention attendees.

The project consisted of 466 hotel rooms including a 184-room Hilton Garden Inn, 187-room Hampton Inn and 95-room Home2Suites. The property featured one common lobby, shared common areas and amenities, including 7,000 Sq Ft meeting space, an indoor pool, fitness room, business center and guest laundry area.

As part of this project, a new pedestrian bridge was built over Indiana Avenue connecting the third floor of the hotel to the existing McCormick Place West facility.

In addition, the property included a rooftop lounge, a Fatpour restaurant and a Starbucks. UJAMAA also self-performed the carpentry package.
