KENNEDY JORDAN MANOR
Kennedy Jordan Manor is named in honor of two members of the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ, Messrs. Levi Kennedy, Jr. & Samuel L. Jordan.
It was built to offer affordable senior housing to residents of the South Side of Chicago. It is the culmination of a years long campaign by Sheldon Heights Church of Christ to provide affordable and secure housing to senior citizens in the West Pullman area in Chicago. KJM prides itself in providing excellent service to its residents.
The UJAMAA team was selected by KJM, Inc. to provide design-build construction services for their new four story 70-unit senior housing building. The pre-cast concrete constructed building consists of eight studio and 62 one-bedroom, units featuring generous window lines, Energy Star appliances, sustainable white TPO roof and green roof.
Ujamaa also completed the associated site work, site infrastructure, landscaping, natural vegetative park, and a grass pave parking area to the building’s west. The construction professionals from UJAMAA self-performed the carpentry, drywall, and general labor trades on this 62,375 Sq Ft affordable, multi-family housing assignment.
This project is another illustration of UJAMAA’s mission to rebuild our community. Additionally, it was a privilege to help this faith-based community manifest their vision of building a home to serve senior citizens in the West Pullman community.
