ESSEX ON THE PARK
UJAMAA Construction and Power Construction turned over a brand-new Green giant in the south loop March 2019. This beautiful aluminum and glass tower stands as one of the tallest buildings (56 Stories / 605 ft) in the area. Essex Tower began early occupancy for leasing mid-February 2019, renting 479 luxury apartment units.
In addition to the luxury apartments, the amenity spaces in this building include an infinity edge pool overlooking Lake Michigan on the 7th floor, an upscale Restaurant on the 6th floor, and a Night Club on the 5th floor. The project also included the renovation of the existing Essex Hotel. The renovation included 195+ Guest Rooms, mechanical and electrical upgrades, as well as enabling work to construct the new residential tower.
Essex on the Park is the first apartment tower in Chicago to receive Well Certification. Issued by the International WELL Building Institute, this award recognizes projects that go above and beyond to enhance health and wellness throughout communities. Focusing on establishing a healthier environment, our team worked closely with the building’s developers to build a structure that provides cleaner air and water and reduces fatigue from light glare and exterior noise. Certified LEED Silver as well as the fourth multifamily residential building in the U.S. to achieve WELL certification, this mixed-use project adds density and vibrancy to a formerly underutilized parcel, and has catalyzed the rapid redevelopment south of Roosevelt Road that is reshaping the city’s southern skyline.
