O’HARE CONSOLIDATED RENTAL CAR FACILITY
Power Construction, Austin Commercial, and UJAMAA Construction, Inc. were awarded the construction of the new Joint Use Facility and ATS Extension Program (ConRac) at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
This project is meant to aid Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport in handling more passengers, further making it one of the world’s premier airports. The $414,000,000 project sits on 33 acres and includes a five-story precast garage, which can be expanded to nine stories should the owner choose at a later date. The building has many components; the first three stories covering 1.5 million Sq Ft includes 4,200 parking stalls for rental car companies, the top two floors covering 1 million Sq Ft includes 2,700 parking stalls for public parking, the Customer Service Center (CSC) is 100,000 Sq Ft and the Quick Turnaround Area (QTA) is a three story, 240,000 Sq Ft precast structure that acts as the maintenance facility for the rental car companies.
The project integrates the construction of an 1,800 ft extension of the current people mover system that will connect the existing system to the new Customer Service Center. This project sets O’Hare up to reclaim its spot as the world’s busiest airport.
